County government staffers have spent the holidays calculating revised impact fee numbers. The numbers must be ready for a Jan. 23 county commission hearing where the board will consider reducing the fees to 2002 levels for 90 days. It’s a process that won’t be as simple as copying the old fee schedule and handing it to commissioners for their approval. Staff is proposing instead to reduce impact fees by a percentage equal to the 2002 fee for a single-family home. The fees for a single-family home that year totaled $3,131, or about a third of what they are today. The fee for a single-family home in 2006 rose to $9,313.
