Congress is looking at ways to help the housing market. Some ideas they have are to allow bankruptcy judges to alter the terms of certain subprime mortgages, to allow companies with losses over the last 2 years to apply those losses as a refund on their income taxes, and to allow block grants for certain areas with high home foreclosure rates so vacant homes can be remodeled and sold.
