Saturday, June 7, 2008 in historic downtown Palm Harbor, be prepared to find thousands of Parrot Heads donning beaks and fins and sipping tasty margaritas in tribute to the Florida’s favorite tropical rocker, Jimmy Buffet.
For the first time patrons will be able to roam the streets with alcoholic beverages of their choice purchased in any of the local restaurants or bars.
Florida Avenue will be cordoned off between Alt. U.S. 19 and Omaha Street (County Road 1); Georgia and Nebraska avenues will be barricaded between 11th and 12th streets. Last year over 20,0000 Buffet fans arrived to celebrate.
There will be vendors offering different foods and beverages as well as displaying jewelry and crafts . Beer and wine will cost $3, frozen cocktails and margaritas will be $4 each and food items will range from about $3 to $7, according to reports.
Admission is free.
Musical entertainment will begin at 2 p.m. with disc jockeys, playing all those tropical tunes.
At 4 p.m., saxophonist Alan Darcy will begin with pop, classic and Buffett-style sounds.
From 6 to 10 p.m.The Caribbean Chillers, a Jimmy Buffett tribute band from Eustis, will begin.
